Distribution Companies

Image
Our chosen distribution companies for our film are Vertigo Films and Pathe. Both of these support and release independent films, including British Social Realism, which we decided to use as our genre for our trailer Vertigo Films is a British film production and distribution company based in London. The company was responsible for the release of 'London to Brighton' in 2006. This is a film that we will strongly base our own trailer and film on therefore this company would be a great idea realistically as they are known to have distribute films of the same nature and with the same harsh themes as we plan on including. Pathe is a major film production and distribution company and is the name of various French businesses that were previously run by the Pathe brothers in France in 1896, making it the second oldest operating film company in the world. They have distributed films such as 'Pride' (2014) and 'Suffragette' (2015) both which tell real stories tha...

Protest Scene - Inspiration

Image
The penultimate scene of our trailer is going to be a protest scene for feminism and women's rights. In order for us to make this a realistic depiction of these protests happening in real life, it is important for us to research and find inspiration so that we can create our own banners and posters successfully. This will all make the protest scene look a lot more authentic and real, also enhancing the social realism genre.  Below, is the specific slut shaming and victim blaming poster that we thought would be the most relevant of all, due to the strong theme of prostitution within our trailer and film. Below are t...

BBFC Certificate Rating

Image
We decided that the BBFC rating of our trailer, and film, would be 15.  This is due to our film showing sexual scenes, due to theme of prostitution, however we would not go into full detail or make sexual activities fully shown.  We plan to follow the British Board of Film Classification and its guidelines for a 15 rated film. For example, nudity is allowed however in context and moderation. We do not intend to show any nudity in the trailer, however there would be some in the rest of the film and will be seen in sexual context, yet it will not be used or shown in strong or explicit detail. Due to the theme of prostitution, there will be sexual content in both the trailer and the film however this will also not be put into strong and explicit detail, in the trailer specifically, it will only be implied. We also intend to use strong language in the rest of the film, due to the social realism genre of it, however again they would not be heard consistently and would be i...
