Protest Scene - Inspiration
The penultimate scene of our trailer is going to be a protest scene for feminism and women's rights. In order for us to make this a realistic depiction of these protests happening in real life, it is important for us to research and find inspiration so that we can create our own banners and posters successfully.
This post shows some examples and ideas of what we intend to create ourselves, such as the girl power sign and the 'women's rights are human rights' statement as both come up more than once in our researching. It also gives examples of ideas we found and that we intend to use similar words, phrases and images as the research gave us. This will all make the protest scene look a lot more authentic and real, also enhancing the social realism genre.
Below, is the specific slut shaming and victim blaming poster that we thought would be the most relevant of all, due to the strong theme of prostitution within our trailer and film.
Below are the protest banners that we made from this inspiration to use in the protest scene, making it look realistic.
This image shows a poster that we found a lot in our research, showing a strong fist which demonstrates the fight that women in these protests will go to and showing that the theme is serious. Using this in our protest will demonstrate and mirror the fight and struggle that our protagonist experiences in order to get out of the harsh and evil situation that she is in.

These last three posters were inspired by the words that we saw on real banners, however we adapted them into our own ideas. To the left shows a poster with a woman speaking, demonstrating how our protagonist tries to speak out about the abuse that she experiences as a woman in a desperate and distressing situation.
The final poster shows the strength of the female protagonist as she empowers herself to get out of the harsh and horrible situation she is in. We also just felt that this had a strong meaning and outlook on how we wanted the audience to feel empowerment after viewing the film as a whole themselves, which is part of the reason that we decided to add a feminist protest in the film, to add a real social issue into it, conforming completely to contemporary social realism films.
