Louis Theroux - Trafficking
In order to further my understanding of the theme of prostitutes, our group watched a Louis Theroux BBC documentary on Trafficking. Although it was filmed in America, many of the ideas and reactions to 'pimps' we agreed would work well with our idea.
Interesting Quotes to consider in our own piece:
"Sometimes they can go and come as they please, depending on the provider."
"That's my daddy he takes good care of me."
"Do you give him all the money you make?" "100%"
"If they say no, it's no."
"Is he physical?" "He can be if you're out of line, if you disobey him."
"Veteran girls out here will spot what they call a renegade which is a girl that's just out here on her own, and either physically attack her or try to coerce her into you know, coming into their family."
"I couldn't wait to put that money in his hand because I knew I was going to get praised."
"Obsessed with me."
"She still felt attached to."
"Wherever you want, to HEAVEN."
"I don't have what he wants so he's not going to be pleasant about it."
"He'll like beat the shit out of you."
PIMP - "If I knew she was 15 I would never have got involved with her."
"Of course i'm getting all the money."
"Yeah I give them some money" "How much?" "Nothing!"
"She wanted to stop working and you pressured her and said 'you haven't made enough money yet'".
"I don't want you to die."
"He punched me in the mouth."
"A need to feel valued and shown love."
In our final piece, we intend to incorporate the real life ideas that are presented in the documentary such as what the women wear, how they react to their pimps and other women in the same place as them and the certain situations that these women can find themselves in.
